This year’s IBTM was extra special for 10 lucky UK hosted buyers who were invited to take time out from their busy schedules to experience what Barcelona has to offer. Thanks to a once in a lifetime FAM trip organised by LifestyleDMC in collaboration with the ACCOR hotel chain, buyers from some of the largest MICE and venue sourcing agencies in the UK were able to network, discover new venues and see different parts of the city in a relaxed professional atmosphere.
LifestyleDMC had been in discussions with ACCOR hotels for over 4 months to organise this trip. Our first contact was with Ana Bistagne (International Sales Manager), who informed us that they were investigating various options to work with a top DMC in Barcelona to organise the trip. “Not many agencies will be able to pull this off to the standard that we need” Said Ana “ Our buyers have very high standards and many know Barcelona very well”
Our brief was to produce a program that would be truly memorable for experienced industry specialists some who have been holding events here for 25 years. Our relationships, with trusted local suppliers coupled with our penchant for creating wow events with style made us the natural choice to make this happen.
It was decided that the Hotel Pullman Skipper would host the guests for the duration of the IBTM and after several meetings with the hotel management and discussions with the ACCOR Director of Global Sales, Debi Du Preez, we were chosen to organise this prestigious event.
We decided to theme the day the Barcelona Bucket List. It would be a day in which everyone would tick at least one thing off their bucket lists. We wanted our guests to experience something or see something they had not seen in Barcelona before.
With some help from our amazing partners we organised a day around, Segways, Helicopter flights, Exclusive Wine tasting, Super Car driving and Catalan Cooking. In between we also organised site visits to some iconic venues that our guests had not seen before.
The day was a huge success for all concerned, “ Many people come to the IBTM and have 2 days of scheduled meetings, a couple of cocktail receptions and then they leave” Says Tony Anagor (CEO LifestyleDMC). “There is a difference between knowing a destination and experiencing a one. If you know a destination you will put it forward to your clients or team for consideration, but if you have really experienced a destination, you will sell it with passion, that was our aim with this FAM trip.”
Judging by all of the positive comments received on the day and subsequently, LifestyleDMC are happy to say that our mission was accomplished.
