In a new plan being proposed by local parliament, tourists travelling to the province of Catalonia will have to pay a tax of between 1 and 3 Euros per person for every night they spend in a hotel, apartment, or cruise ship. The levy of between 1 and 3 Euros will be charged according to the category of the establishment and for a period of up to 10 days. Children under the age of 12 and the elderly will be exempt.
